The ancient centre of Tansen is the headquarters of Palpa District. It is located about 7km north of Pokhara to Lumbani road. The old town is worthy of a stay since it has some fascinating old buildings and temples and a lively handicraft industry. Of particular interest here are the brass foundries and the traditional cloth waving.
Around Tansen, there are a number of short treks possible that take you to local sites of scenic and cultural interest.
