Homeopathy

Homoeopathy is a system of natural remedies made from animal, vegetables, and mineral extracts. These remedies are prepared in such a way that they are non toxic, and do not cause side effects. Homoeopathic medicine is prescribed according to the Law of 'similia similibus and curentur', which means let likes be treated alike and opposite.

Homoeopathy and Ayurveda have their similarities, but in homoeopathy there is a peculiar phenomena whereby different medicines are used often to treat the same condition in different people, and the same medicine may be used to treat different conditions, even totally opposite 'diseases' such as diarrhea and constipation. In Homoeopathy like Ayurveda, it is the patient that the homoeopathic practitioner concerns himself with rather than the disease. Ayurveda and Homoeopathy are often compatible, and can be used together.

The Ministry of Health has a homoeopathic division, and practitioners and pharmacies can be located throughout the city of Kathmandu .
