The idea of appointments is a relatively new one in Bhutan . Unless you are meeting a very high level official, you will probably be given a vague appointments time - usually anytime during the morning (or afternoon). When you arrive, the person will often be out, or in another meeting. Be patient and wait, or come back later.

Holidays

Bhutan's national day is 17 December, the date of the establishment of the monarchy in 1907. Other important holidays are the king's birthday on 11 November and Coronation Day on 2 nd June.

The New Year is called Losar, and is celedrated according to the highly complicated Bhutanese calendar. Losar usually falls between mid-January and mid-March. To complicated matters further, there are different dates for the New Year in various parts of the country.
