The ancient Kingdom of Bhutan to this day remains one of the worlds most mysterious and undiscovered destinations in the world. Nestled high in the eastern Himalayas, Bhutan still maintains its incredible natural beauty and traditional ways of life. Starting from 2007 "Balloons over Bhutan " will offer visitors a unique and exciting journey above the beautiful Gangte Valley from the enchanting platform of a hot air balloon.
From September until May each year our sunrise flights, will drift slowly over high mountain pastures, traditional farmsteads, and the unique Bhutanese Dzongs against a backdrop of distant Himalayan peaks. On landing, our fully trained Bhutanese ground crew will pack the balloon whilst passengers enjoy a glass or two of celebratory schnapps or brandy.
Our counter part in Bhutan is fully licensed and approved by the Department of Civil Aviation of Bhutan to operate a passenger balloon service in the area. 'Balloons over Bhutan ' are insured with US$ 2,000,000 third party and passenger liability, reinsured through Lloyds of London.
The Balloons and all aircraft equipment have been supplied new to 'Balloons over Bhutan' by 'Cameron Balloons' of Bristol, England, the 'world's largest and finest balloon manufacturer'. All our commercial pilots and inspectors are qualified and currently licensed in the UK . The normal passenger load per balloon will at present be limited to a maximum of six per flight.
